International Yoga Day Celebration 2023
Yoga is the gateway of happiness that body needs in daily life.
Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education, Chandigarh celebrated 9th International Yoga Day with great
enthusiasm and fervour. The school, which follows the principles of Sri Aurobindo and emphasizes the
philosophy of Integral yoga, regularly incorporates meditation, chanting of mantras, and yoga into its
curriculum.
Since the theme for the year is ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, a special yoga session was organized
in the school premises for students, parents and teachers. The innumerable benefits of practicing yoga
were explained to all the participants. The session aimed to educate participants about the numerous
benefits of practicing yoga and how it can help balance physical and mental stress. The celebration
commenced with a speech by Ms. Meenu Kalra. The speech highlighted the principles of Sri Aurobindo
and how ‘True Yog’ can be attained. The participants then engaged in various yoga postures guided by
the school's yoga instructor, Mr. Kamal.
The postures included Pranayama (breathing exercises), Surya
Namaskar (sun salutation), Tadasana (mountain pose), Ardh chakrasana (half wheel pose),
Shashankasana (rabbit pose), Bhujangasana (cobra pose), and Pawanmuktasana (wind-relieving pose).
Overall, the celebration at Sri Aurobindo School aimed to promote the practice of yoga as a means to
achieve happiness, physical well-being, and mental equilibrium.
It provided an opportunity for students,
parents, and teachers to come together and experience the transformative power of yoga. Ms.
Anuradha thanked the parents, students and teachers for joining the celebration and making it a
memorable one.
