Let's Talk: Community Helpers
Today, in our "Let's Talk" session, our kindergarten students had a wonderful time learning about community helpers. The children were excited to share what they already knew and also learn about new helpers that they may not have encountered yet. We started the discussion by asking the students who they thought community helpers might be. Some children quickly named familiar helpers like doctors and policemen, while others mentioned teachers, firefighters, and postmen. To make the session more interactive, the children were encouraged to act out their favourite community helpers. One by one, they pretended to be doctors giving a check-up, firefighters putting out fires, and teachers helping others learn. The children even pretended to be construction workers building a house and grocery store clerks checking out items! This session not only helped students understand the importance of different community helpers, but it also sparked their imaginations about how they might contribute to society one day.
